Your downloads folder is a library
Streams evaporate: videos are deleted, region-locked, re-edited. The people building small personal video libraries are not hoarders — they are the only ones whose favourites are guaranteed to exist next year.

The case against the cloud of other people
Every "saved" list you keep on a platform is a tenancy. Creators delete, platforms purge, licences lapse, accounts close. The file you downloaded is the only copy whose continued existence is your decision.
Curation is the whole discipline
A library is not a pile. Download deliberately — the talk you will rewatch, the tutorial you will reuse, the performance that may vanish — name it on arrival, and let the merely amusing scroll past unsaved. Scarcity is what makes a library browsable.
Keep it playable
Standardise the keeping copies on MP4, back them up once, and the library outlives every app it came from. That is the quiet promise DownloadVids is built around: files, not feeds.
